Hello Patty

Your account sounds wonderful and great to see another massive fan of Austria.

I really do love the country. I have never been in the winter, but the summer, for me brings the best out of it. The people take such pride in its appearance, and they are so friendly.

I agree about how diverse it is too. each region has its own identity and character. Which is amazing for such a small country

Patty, I was at the Danube Bend also in the 80ís at the first time; and just some years ago at the last time. And I think, Szentendre hasnít changed much during this time. Surely there are more tourists from more countries, but it has still the same atmosphere.

The Lake Balaton has a very special place in my life. When I was a child, I enjoyed to spend the vacation there, later there was a period, when I hated Lake Balaton
Now I really love the nice places and villages like Badacsony, Balatonfüred, or Tihany. About Balatonfüred I already wrote in an another thread. (http://www.palinstravels.co.uk/static-51?forum=11&;topic=8209&page=2)

Intrepid, it's really interesting you wrote about Brno. Well, maybe it was a trend that time.
It's a good question: is there any other town in Central-Europe, which has the same tradition?
