Hi Mike
There is a lot happening, especially in the desert! More traffic over Spring Break than at Picadilly Circus!!
Am planning to drive from Seattle to San Diego later on this year. Looking out of my office window and seeing the rain over Oxford, it can't come soon enough!
Why does arty shoot at people???

Don't worry Babsy, Arty is in London and less dangerous than she looks on screen!:-) Are you driving on vacation from Seattle to San Diego? Let me know when. I visit my favorite cousin in L.A. usually one long weekend a summer. Also one of my other friends is coming through Tucson on her way back to California from New Mexico. (Hey, it's a great city and I love to show it off).

Don't worry, the rain depresses me too. At least here, it doesn't happen often LOL!
Do you work in Oxford or are you retired?

The only protests here at the moment are high school kids protesting the new immigration policies Congress is working on.

Hi Mike
Retired? Wish I was!!! Have at least another 20 years to go before I can afford that! I work here at the University but am also a part time student, still, again, probably always will be.
Yes, I will be driving from Seattle to SD. But it will be more towards autumn time rather than the summer.

OIC Babsy sounds interesting. What sort of work do you do at the University? What are you studying?

Re: Newbie by Babsy on 4 April 2006 2:40pm

Mike, I look after the academic staff's workload planning here. I make sure they don't work too hard and have enough time for their so called research (and that we don't pay them too much)!!!
I am studying Communication, Media and Culture, which encompasses a multitude of things! I am just in the middle of a research project into the commuting behaviour of Oxfordian University staff, a sort of ecological/economical study into social capital etc, tres boring really. What do you do?

Babsy,
I am a jack of all trades (and problem a master of few). I was a librarian for seventeen years and got laid off. Now, I am working in a call center while I build a speech coaching business and write. I just finished my essay book and almost finished my Arizona Poetry book. Those I will self publish.

Then I have to finish my Sherlock Holmes novel. It is from Professor Moriarty's point of view. I also have a bunch of blogs.

If you want to know more email me,
