It's like how over Easter we had a huge amount of deaths on the roads and the campaigns start yet again to make people slow down and not drink and drive. The only people who take notice are the people who wouldn't do it in the first place.
I just saw that the released video of the gunman has brought about a lot of copycat threats already. Well done, media.

Yea, the media is very much to blame for this. Why would the broadcast that? We were just talking about this in my AP English class!
Re: Virginia Tech by sighthound on 20 April 2007 10:39pm
There were a lot of pleas from students on the campus and families of the victims this morning for the media to just go away and leave them alone so they can try to start healing. Of course this was featured prominently on the media with lots of "experts" discussing it. At least they've mostly stopped showing footage of the killer.

Honestly, no one wants to see that psycho. And they're just giving him what he wants, publicity. The media really pisses me off sometimes.

Oh yes, I received an email from my friend in Olney, Maryland telling me her Godson attends Virginia Tech and one of the Professors killed was his professor. Another fairly famous professor named Kevin Granata is among the dead.

Yes, the media should go away and allow the poor folks to try and heal. It reverberated here in Tucson. Five years ago, a man about to flunk out of the U of A School of Nursing went on a rampage and killed three students and two professors. All sorts of wounds were reopened there.

Oh my goodness. That's a bit close to home isn't it, Mike?

Goodness. I know, the media can be horribly relentless when it comes to this kind of thing cause they want to get the story. But, seriously, they just want to be left alone.
Re: Virginia Tech by tucsonmike on 22 April 2007 12:00am
Yes, my Time Magazine came today. Guess what the cover story is?:-(
Re: Virginia Tech by Palin_Lover on 22 April 2007 10:31pm
Psssh, and still they pester. Annoying.
Re: Virginia Tech by tucsonmike on 24 April 2007 12:20am
Yes, my Economist arrived today. The cover says American Tragedy and they have an American flag shaped as a gun.

The editorial basically says guns are our problem. Wont make friends and influcence folks here in AZ.
Re: Virginia Tech by Palin_Lover on 25 April 2007 2:51am
That is so blasphemous to have the flag shaped as a gun....I really don't like that.

Geez, ya think that's our problem? Duh.
