Most Americans want the automatic weapons banned. You don't go hunting (unless you are nuts) with an automatic weapon.

Crime tends to be lower on college campuses. I received my U.S. News and World Report today. The Virginia Tech business was the cover story. Apparently, school officials have to be careful for legal reasons (yes, lawsuits again) have to be careful how they "treat" students with problems.

Yes, the cover with the American flag did bother me. The Economist is a British publication (though half of its readers are American and Canadian). As much of an Anglophile as I am as with you, Palin_Lover, I was offended. Criticize the issue. Don't use our flag that way.

Amazingly enough, American gun ownership has dropped in the last thirty years. Thirty years ago, half of American households owned a firearm. Now, it is 1/3.

I have mixed feelings about guns. I would feel better if I had a handgun while hiking in the desert. There should be all sorts of training etc.

Having your firearm on the dashboard in the car makes it too easy to do something stupid. My brother-in-law hit the nail on the head on that one.

Again, there are NO easy answers.
