Which brings us back to Oliver's Army...see how everything is connected? Elvis Costello is a big creme egg fan, so I've heard.

Have you noticed that in every photo taken of John Howard, he looks as though he has just finished eating a bowl of weeties?

You can have our Costello if you want Anne. And because we're generous folk, we'll throw in our Abbott ABSOLUTELY FREE!!! Though I suspect after a few weeks of Australia's Abbott and Costello, you'll have them marked, "Return to Sender".

From a complete outsider, good-luck to whoever is opposing John Howard. Then there might be a proper discussion on whether ot not you want the Queen of England in your constitution...sorry! (Going to the Republican Party AGM on Saturday & this will be mentioned)

The Democrats had a debate Tuesday night. It has already gone past being old.

It should be the most exciting election in 80 years. Instead, the Democrats only have a platform of "we hate Bush." The Republicans are in complete disarray. Mrs. Clinton will almost certainly be the Democratic nominee, barring some unforeseen circumstance. The Republicans are a little more up in the air.
I am no longer excited. The election is exactly one year from Sunday. I can hardly wait.

For the Aussies, for whom this thread is really supposed to be about. Good luck, your misery SHOULD be over soon...

Again,Australian Palins, please excuse the intervention: it's just very interesting (and depressing) from my perspective on the left of politics (Labour Party member) to hear that the right-wing parties are accusing the left-wing ones in EXACTLY the same way as happened in the UK in '97 - inexperience, slavery to trade untions - the message just doesn't change. But if the electorate want change it will happen. I do see that electioneering in the media is tedious so roll on 24 Nov & that part of it will be over.
Geraldine, we have just concluded in UK a depressing saga of an enquiry into funding of political parties - no-one will agree so it's back to the depressing, inadequate & marginally corrupt status quo.
