There's some interesting Scottish history on a site my friend Shelley administers:
http://newminda.proboards66.com/index.cgi
She and one of the Scottish administrators are veritable encyclopedias (albeit highly biased one) of Scottish history. You have to register for an account, but it's free, and it might be interesting to get the human point of view. And I'm sure they could direct you to other, less biased resources.
The site is mainly for Dr. Who fans, but there's a Celtic Forum near the bottom of the page that has quite a number of threads in it.
If you're interested, that is. I'm not trying to drum up business for the site. My friend has Scottish ancestry and is kind of obsessed with it right now. |

"Why was England constantly invading Scotland?"
Because they couldn't quite work out what this game called 'Golf' was all about and wanted to learn how to play it properly.. |

It was so they could kidnap Sean Connery and use him for England's official mascot. The plan failled so they had to use Julian Clary instead. |

He must be the worst actor ever and I detest his phoney Scottishness. All in all he's an arsehole. |

Joking aside, I thought he was a hero in Scotland? He is certainly fervently nationalist when it comes to Scotland. |
