Thanks! I had a wonderful time in Libya. It's a fascinating place to visit and the locals are very kind, generous and welcoming. I'd been 'chatting' with people there for several years before I visited and although people had warned me about the potential dangers of meeting people known only from the internet, my friends turned out to be as nice face to face as they were online! |

So pleased to hear about your great trip, Helen (not a terribly OBVIOUS destination, I'm sure Michael would approve): particularly when you mention meeting people face-to-face. I've only done that with 3 on this site, but this year/next year I hope to up that strike rate.
People here are lovely to meet for real!

Having met three Palinites is probably more than most Linda. Living in London obviously helps. |

Well done, HelenBachari. It was good to see the Palin Project on the other side of the world. Even more congratulations to Bunniegirl1979 for initiating it in the first place and getting it delivered on time. |

I think Sally deserves a huge pat on the back for organising PP - it was a wonderful idea and I was thrilled to be a part of it.
Did any other PP participants keep pics/videos of themselves with PP. Would love to see them! |

Yes, Project Palin was a success and Sally did a great job.
I told Helen Libya is a place I can't/wont visit. My (surrogate) uncle in Poland was assigned to work in Libya when Poland was Communist. When Elaine and I were staying w/him he showed us a book about Libya.
In other words, add Libya to Iran, Syria and North Korea on the "no go list." |

Interesting, Mike! We will discuss this live in another time, another place.
Libya was 'blessed' by Tony Blair a few years ago with official welcomes back into the international fold (we probably want the oil) |

Hi Mike - I remember your reasons for not being able to/wanting to visit Libya.
I guess I am 'lucky' that my own life circumstances have enabled me to have friends and relatives in countries with which other folk have no association or connection.
It is very sad that history, politics and religion have prevented millions of people from forming wonderful friendships with people whose background differs from their own. |
