Re: Women's day! by mrsthing on 9 March 2008 1:04pm

I'd go for a "Pick Up Your Own Damned Stuff" day, or a national "No Whining, Just Do As I Say" day, or a "The Only Thing I'm Making For Dinner Is Reservations" day. I love to cook, just not 350 days a year. I hate housework, though. I can do it, and make the house look great, I just find it tortuously tedious.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, everyone! I went out in the wind-driven rain yesterday and picked up my cake and some mylar balloons. Tonight we have lamb roast and mashed potatoes for dinner, then....CAAAAAKE! I love CAKE!

Happy birthday, Judy
Hope you are having a nice day, your meal sounds delicious (did someone else cook it?) - and I hope you're not doing the washing-up

Kazzzz--a mylar balloon looks like it's made of foil and has a seam on the outside. They usually have bright designs printed on them. Shiny..... They last much longer than latex balloons: they stay aloft for up to 3 or 4 weeks. They're supposed to be better for the environment than latex, but I've found more old mylar balloons at the beach than you can shake a stick at. I guess they're not as much a hazard to marine life.

Geordiegirl (sorry I haven't got all your real names straight yet!)--I cooked my own dinner, but it was very good. I drew the line at lighting my own birthday candles, though. I HATE washing dishes more than any other kind of housework, so I'm leaving it to tomorrow. I'd love to get to the point where all my pots and pans are dishwasher safe so I could just throw them in and forget about them.

Ahhhh I didn't know that's what they were called...my kids have them from when they were born, they last forever!
