Ooooh. I did it in one go. Maybe tomorrow I will be saying "oops I did it again" (sorry for THIS reference!))). Amazing. And amazingly interesting. Kisch, it was lovely (your performance))). And the man... Could one imagine someone more charming and beautiful? How I love that trademark (R) forelock - oh, I am getting silly.
(For the sake of justice, the other man was quite charming too;)
Still funny to me how Michael's latest public appearances were thoroughly attended by two devoted Russians (me the beginner) - he must have thought there is some Palin sect here in St.Peters... |

I just finished watching the whole thing and it was great. It was great seeing him more serious than he usually are. I find his opinions really interesting, even though it's about paitnitng I don't have any opinions about or even heard of or seen before. I loved what he said about that people should make their own opinions on paitings and not just go what the makerting says or something like that. He even said "To hell with that" which I liked :-) And I loved when they talked about sex in paintings and that stuff
He's really an interesting man. You just want to ask him questions, any questions, to hear his opinions. You just think "Tell me more. What else have you got to say?" :-) |

| WOW, That interview was SO GOOD ! Learnt so much ! My daughter who is studying Art for her final year at school will be very interested to watch this too. I AGREE WITH MICHAEL, A TV SERIES WHICH EXPLORES THE STORIES IN ART and SHOWING ART TO THE FINEST DETAIL WOULD BE BRILLIANT ! The Story behind the Art - can you imagine how interesting that would be with Michael narrating, bringing his curiosity and whimsical sense of humour into it. It would refreshing.......It would be a best seller !!! It would also give him another great opportunity to travel !!! :) Thanks for the posting Kisch and it was lovely to see and hear you too ! How lucky you were to have been there :) |

Rox, let's start a campaign "Michael please do more art programmes !".
Well, or at least please release your old ones, because from the four of his art documentaries I only happened to see one (Hammershoi) and I'd love to see the others !
Interesting point was made at this Tate talk about the gallery in England unable to find sponsors for Egon Schiele exhibition ! I mean what's the point ?! Schiele is all over the Wienna galleries, everyone can go there and see and somehow for England it's "too sexually agressive". I just don't understand it, it's ridiculous. Schiele is by the way absolutely outstanding painter, one of my absolute faves, much more provocative than Sickert (tho there are similarities), and I would love to hear M.P. commenting on his art actually.
Also, I love the faces M.P. is pulling when Tim Marlow is revealing that the first work of art he bought was Tracey Emin's "Stabbed" - it's priceless:)
And yes, I *was* lucky to be there, but I put a lot of effort into it too !
UPD - also, I envy you British, you have such a wonderful art progs on TV, I especially liked Matthew Colling's series (I've seen twoof them while in London a long time ago, I don't know if they are still on), and his books are brilliant too. Tim Marlow somehow reminds me of Matthew. By the way, Tim seemed a bit nervous during the talk, and I can't see why. |

No, I do not find it particulary annoying that he didn't look M.P. in the eye, I feel a bit nervous for Tim myself, seems that he's quite excited and I even like this fact, it gives the feeling of fresheness to the whole thing, if you see what I mean.
There is quite a long speech from Michael there about looking at paintings being personal and intimate experiense - I just *adore* the passion of this passage of his, it is absolutely genuine passion there. |

Yes, I love that part too that you mentioned. I really love that he's all for people thinking for yourself and don't let anyone tell you what to think. Very good message to say. |
