Atta girl! I'm checking You Tube as we speak to see if anyone posted a bootleg video of your performance...

Well done, Judy! I have to admire you for learning to play notes, a skill I have never learned. As for the performance anxiety, it usually helps a bit, unless it's too much to handle. But I guess the more you do it, the easier it becomes. It's the adrenaline that makes us going, we just have to put it in good use :)

Well done Judy! As you say, a boost to the self-confidence here & I bet the performance was really well received

Thanks, Pete. It was only a performance at a little music school in my town. All of the other performers were little kids and teenagers. I don't allow my husband to take video of me playing--I have a thing about being photographed.

Elina--the anxiety is WAY more than I can handle. It's a real phobia, but I got a hold of myself and figured that performing for a bunch of little kids and their parents wasn't a big deal. And having crashed and burned spectacularly last year, I figured it couldn't possibly be any worse. That chant from the movie "Meatballs" became my mantra: "It doesn't really matter!" It helped.

I understand. My friend has a phobia, a big one, too. She doesn't hate only performing but also talking to a phone. If she needs to make a phone call, she needs lots of time to prepare and calm herself down, and a huge glass of water next to her.

That's a good mantra!

I remember when I was like seven years old and I had to give a presentation in school about the royal family of Sweden, and I was so nervous that before I went to the front of class I opened the top of my desk and laughed inside my desk! After that I kept a straight face. It was weird but I that was the way to get rid of my nervousness. I think everyone thought I was a bit weird. Nowadays I don't mind performing, I like the adrenaline I get.

I love singing for an audience, and I don't at all mind giving speeches or reading in church. But the guitar is relatively new, and those formerly dormant demons are having a lot of fun. I'm taming them, slowly.
