His first name is Rod? How do you pronounce that then?

Re: Breaking news from IL: Gov. B gets busted by mrsteabag on 11 December 2008 1:50am

Kazzz, I think it's pronounced Rod. May need to look it up. :)
As I tap away, it's nearly 8pm my time. Still no sign that he's remotely considering resigning. Unfortunately, corruption is part of politics here in IL. Remember, we have a former gov in prison for corruption. That was more serious--when he was Secretary of State (oversees drivers' licenses), a totally unqualified trucker bribed his way to a license, then killed six children in an accident.
However, there was one event that summed up the feelings of Illinois voters. While the reporters were waiting for him to leave for the state building in downtown Chicago this morning, one of the neighbor's dogs expressed an opinion on the Gov's lawn. :)

The same as in Stewart, if that helps, Kazzzz.

I think there are probably a few politicians who don't know how to do their jobs properly.

Can he be obliged to resign? Or is your guess that he will brazen it out?

Re: Breaking news from IL: Gov. B gets busted by mrsteabag on 11 December 2008 7:08pm

OK, it's a hair after 1pm my time. He's just going about the day as if nothing's out of the ordinary. The state House of Representatives is ready to rock and roll with articles of impeachment--they go into special session on Monday. And Lisa Madigan, our States Attorney, is ready to go to the state Supreme Court to have him declared unfit for office. I'd like to think he'd wake up and realize there's no way out and step aside for the sake of his family, but he's probably going to brazen it out. Jerk.

I have spoken with two dealers in Illinois today. One said his daughter in Australia knew all about it.
Mrs. Governor may go to jail as well. She is being refered to as "Lady Macbeth," the other installer told me.
From what I saw on the news, state govt is starting impeachment proceedings.

Elaine had an interesting comment about this yesterday. What happens if Gov. B makes the Senate appointment? Can it then be nixed by the Acting Gov.?
Hmmmmmmmm.
The second installer I spoke with was laughing, saying if Governor B goes to jail, is there only room for one ex-Illinois Governor in the slammer @ a time and that Ex Governor Ryan will be let out.

Just watched "Chicago Tonight." Two members of the state house of reps were on. They go into special session on Monday to figure out some way to block him from appointing Obama's replacement and are eager to start with the Articles of Impeachment if he doesn't get his sorry butt out by tomorrow. 84-94% depending on the surveys think he should resign as does Obama, both the Trib and Sun-Times,the NY Times...
Mrs. Gov is also the daughter of one of the long standing, high-powered aldermen on Chicago City Council and sister to a state rep. She's a real estate agent who deals in high end commercial properties.
Oh, Mike, didn't installer #2 tell you that they're building a special gov's wing at the fed pen in Terre Haute?;)

The AP (Associated Press) correspondent DON BABWIN filed a pertinent piece on these ongoing revelations from Chicago, on 11th
December,2008,entitled : "Arrest of Illinois governor puts spotlight on his wife"
It seems that although Patti Blagojevich is certainly pretty, she is just as much up to her neck in the mire as her husband is,and shockingly equally as foul-mouthed.Babwin states that Patti was hoping to get as much personal benefit from the illegal sale of the Senator's seat as her husband was. They married in 1990,and have two children.

Re: Breaking news from IL: Gov. B gets busted by mrsteabag on 12 December 2008 4:06pm

Yep! She sure is.
As of 8 AM-ish our time, Gov B is showing no signs of budging. It looks as if Rahmn Emannuel, P-E Obama's chief of staff, may have been the one approached by the B. camp and consequently tipping off the FBI. Also, an investigative report last night found out that B. owes major bucks to a high powered legal firm--they dropped him like a plutonium potato just before all this hit the fan Tuesday.
Also on the news this morning: t-shirts reading "I bribed the gov and allI got was this bleeping lousy t-shirt" are now available. :)
Also of note: Richard Nixon is one of Gov. B's heroes.
Get your creme eggs, your popcorn, your cigarettes, your whatever get you thru the news on hand, dear ones. This might take a few days.

Re: Breaking news from IL: Gov. B gets busted by mrsteabag on 12 December 2008 9:33pm

Maybe not. States' Attorney Lisa Madigan filed with the state Supreme Court to get Gov. B out and for a temporary restraining order to keep him from appointing anyone. So we wait.
