On the subject of Friday the 13th,did you know that the word 'superstitious' has 13 letters?

(How chilling...) :)

I flew to the UK once on Fri 13th, the plane was 1/2 empty and I had 4 seats to myself!! It was the best day to fly ever!

Did you know that fear of the number 13 is called triskadekaphobia, and fear of Friday the 13th is called paraskavedekatriaphobia?

Wait...I think I've said this before...maybe this is the continental version. ;-)

Friday? My phone line got fixed...it had been out since Tuesday, so now you know where I've been. We thought it was just being flakey because of the damp, windy weather (Kaz, Missy...tried to send it to you, but didn't work. Maybe next time). Yesterday was pleasant--went to our favorite Indian restaurant for lunch and stopped at a Mid-East grocery store and an Indian store we both like.

I flew on Friday the 13th one year to either Germany or the Caribbean, I can't remember which, or was it S.F.? LOL. One of those places...

Thanks for the good wishes, folks & if you celebrated 14th I'm sure you enjoyed it (not incompatible with bewailing the over-commercialism of it).

New microwave & new food mixer on Friday 13th, and another chance to see 'The Pitmen Painters ' - my current favourite play - on Saturday. And a Slow Food Fair.

Friday 13th? Tend to think of it as a self-fulfilling prophecy.

What's "The Pitmen Painters" about?

Ooo, do you know that we have two consecutive Friday the 13ths this year? Another is coming up in March. I wonder how often that happens?

Well I suppose, as February and March ALWAYS (except leap years) have the same dates on the same days at the MOST every 6 years?

I think that's right anyway ...or am I going bonkers?

[Don't all shout at once !!!] ;)

Leap Year screws things up every four years. The last time we had a Friday the 13th in a 28-day February was in 1998, 11 years ago. But the next one will be in 2015, only 6 years from now. There's a recurring pattern, but it's not always regular.
