I have no memories of real fear of clowns as a child, but vaguely remember a movie/tv series in which terrifying scenes with clowns took place.

When I was a Big Brother, we dressed as clowns for the town parade. Armed with a bag of candy and two handfuls of helium balloons, we were a hit. I started shaking hands with the kids, and they loved it! If I find one of the pictures, I'll share it.

Please don't hate me. *big pouty face with large tears and three-inch thick lips with a red nose*

I was thinking yesterday (whilst waiting in the hospital for my 3-monthly appointment - they were running an hour late!) how wonderful it would be if life was really like the Harry Potter books!! I mean, not the nasty bits but if there really were wizards and witches (and yes, I know they DO exist but it is NOT really the same, is it!).

Of course needless to say I wouldn't be a muggle or a squib but a full fledged witch - imagine doing the chores with a flick of your wand !!

And how about travelling via the floo network or apparation!! Not sure if I fancy flying on a broomstick though - even if it is the latest model !

Back to reality !

Mike, are you a candidate for the Pulitzer Prize this year?

I was terrified of clowns as a child, but my brother thought they were the funniest thing going, and so did my daughter. Magicians scared the pants off her, though--she hated the way they did things that didn't make sense.

Well we went to the party yesterday and the wizard there was HILARIOUS! He was from a theatre company and also a teacher, he had the kids (and parents) in the palm of his hand. He was such a comedian and had almost 30 kids captivated for well over an hour, not a small feat by any means. Better than a clown anyday!
