Thank you, palinites.
Lying in bed tonight I remembered three happy things which have happened in the past 8 days:
1) My wife won £25 on the lottery (she tells me it is her first £25 since the price went up!)
2) Our daughter got a new job - less money but more job satisfaction and a better work life balance than the one she is leaving.
3) I got a hole in one on the first hole of the putting green at Lochore Meadows Country Park today. All the other putts were 2s or 3s so I didn't really annoy myself by getting a 4.

I used to take Diclofenac Sodium (Voltarol) for the occasional muscle strain I would get playing badminton. I finished them a couple of months ago or so and I asked the doc for more. She said they were taking DS of the list because they can cause heart problems. She prescribed Naproxen instead. I needed one tonight and like any good patient I read the leaflet after taking the first one. The very first side effect listed is a small increase in risk of heart attack (myocardial infarction) or stroke! There is also an enormous list of other possible side effects which makes me think that these tablets are much worse for side effects than the original DS. I'll be returning them to the doc. as soon as possible with a complaint that besides trying to change me on to a 'better' medicine these tablets have frightened me so much I will not be taking any more.

Hope you can get some medicine with no side effects at all, Ken, if that is possible.

Does any one have a good remedy for a summer cold other than going to bed for 3 days to get rid of it properly?
Suzulu, the doc. represcribed Diclofenac Sodium and noted that I had an adverse reaction to Naproxen. I haven't needed them yet but now know that I can self-treat a strain quickly and safely when I get one.

There are various homeopathic remedies for colds depending on what the symptoms are, Ken.

Hot lemon and ginger drink might help.

Good you can self-treat the muscle strains.
