We salute the young lady for the courage to leave. Enough is enough.
My bargains: went to Penney's (lovely reasonable department store). Got a new down comforter for 30% off, two pillows for $12, (buy one, get the second for a $1), and a pair of hot pink slippers for $6.98 marked down from $20.

Thank you.

Went to see her this morning after she rang us very distressed last night because she had no money for food (also she had had to leave all her frozen food etc behind). She was just a little panicky I think - she may act as if she knows it all but inside she is still so very young and, to be honest, wet behind the ears.

The other 'housemates' had offered to give her some food but to start with she wasn't accepting it - we said she had to swallow her pride for her child's sake. Tough I know, but sometimes you have to be. She settled down then.

So we gathered together some bits and pieces and also bought a load of shopping for her and met her nearby the refuge (she isn't allowed to give anyone the address, of course).

She'll be ok after the weekend, as she'll get her money sorted etc - but there are no staff on at weekends so she was stuck. She was much more positive when we saw her and so are we knowing that she now has enough food to see her and Bethany over the weekend and probably most of next week.

Well, as from last Monday (11th Jan) we have our grandson living with us again (the 2 eldest grandkids lived with us before full-time because of family probs from when they were 8 & 10 until they were about 13 & 14). He is now 17 and has moved from Worcester.

He was 'sofa-surfing' as they call it - in other words he was sleeping on his sister Sophie's settee so of course when she moved he had nowhere to go. His wonderful father said he could stay there for a maximum of 2 days (great) and he rang us last Sunday crying because he was scared he would have to go to a hostel.

My husband said straight away that he could come here and I agreed with him.

Our grandson is now back in Stafford where he has wanted to be for a long time (to be near us and his uncle) and he is soo happy to be back here!!

He is currently trying to sort out a job and then he will try to get himself somewhere, a bedsit or whatever.

Sophie is coming over to stay on Tuesday too, and then she is seeing the housing department on Wednesday.

New year new start for both of them. Nice to have them back in Staffordshire - if only to save money on petrol when fetching them or going to see them in Worcester!!

:)

Thanks for the updates, Anne. Glad to hear that things are falling into place for them.

I bought a decent pair of shoes yesterday for £19.99. They would usually cost about £60.
