Tosun had a bit of an 'incident' on Sunday afternoon!

We had come back from the shops and Zak had him on the lead whilst putting up some England window shades we'd just bought. The people in the house across the lane from us also have a Staffie (they'd had a couple before they moved in, and when they saw Tosun as a pup they said they'd have to get another!), and it's a female and of course she keeps barking at Tosun, really winding him up (not sexually - he's been done!!).

So this time she is in their garden, barking away (no gate) and Tosun goes to run over the road (lane) and the lead end snapped, so Zak was left holding part of the lead and Tosun ran across the road! Luckily it is a quiet road and no cars were going by (SOME people do race through the village). Zak ran across, they were obviously scrapping. Zak caught him by his harness and yanked him away.

Later on he was acting strangely - he wouldn't come inside and was just standing by the back door looking in, with his tail firmly clamped between his legs, shaking slightly. Basically his thunderstorm look so I even looked up at the sky expecting black clouds!!

Eventually to cut a long story short (Johnny) we got him in but he was acting weird all evening. We noticed his eye was weeping and he has some scratches or bites under it.

He is more or less ok now, except his eye is still weepy - we have special dog eye wipes and have also bathed it in a saline solution. It did look marginally better last night though.

We have come to the conclusion that he had delayed shock after the fight. It would be 'nice' to say he had learnt his lesson,but of course next time she barks he will be straining to get to her.

(His lead is actually a strong chain one, but Zak usually insists on having 2 leads fastened together to give him more length. The leads that pull out are no good for Tosun - not strong enough, he has broken 2 and that's when he was much smaller!! The 'top' lead was a strong woven one and it was that one that gave way!! Personally I like to keep him on just the one chain lead!
[He does have special Staffie 'regalia' - special leather harness, lead and collar with Stafford knot on (our town sign) but it is too hot for Summer!]).

Ok Johnny -how many words was that?!!

LOL Anne! I think that was a mere 500 words or so.:)

* My version *
" Wee devil dog Tosun gets into a scrap with neighbourhood bitch. He takes a hiding, his pride is hurt and his mum is upset. " :)

Anne, give Tosun a kiss for me. How humiliating.

Hope Tosun's OK now Anne.
We have all those stray cats, about 4 or 5, 'moved' back in, they're all beating my cat up and she won't go outside...they all vanished over summer and are now all back for winter.
