Mrs. TeabagSr: the saga continues

She's back in the hospital with an antibiotic-resistant infection in her leg. And the diarrhea caused by the antibiotics that caused all this in the first place is back. So what are they doing? Giving her more antibiotics!
What was so bad about leeches, again?

Thanks, guys. She had a really awful night--woke up very confused and got really combative. One of the Misses Teabag stayed with her. They're going have her evaluated again for depression or Alzheimer's.
The good news is that today's bloodwork showed a decrease in bacteria.
Loretto, I look at it this way: supporting Mr. Teabag in all this takes my mind off the loonies on my side. It keeps me from having a huge pity party, so in a weird way, it keeps me from getting really flaky.

Sorry to hear this. It may be worth considering that some of her confusion could be the result of a urinary infection. This is a common thing among the elderly - so many of us in our doteage neglect to drink enough fluids. I have a compromised immune system and have had a nasty infection which required a combination of antibiotics for a cure. Leeches would be best though.

Gee Fran, she is fortunate to have a loving family to look after her. I hope it is not Altzheimer's. People with this condition are often pushed away because there is little medicine can do to bring them back.
Does she have a digital picture frame? We got one for Cheryl's Grandma, loaded it with as many pictures of people she knows, set it up in her room and it plays through all the pictures day and night. It has got her asking about these people and provided some connection to her past life after being locked away in a facility full of strangers. The staff think the picture frame a wonderful addition to her life.
That's secondary after looking after her physical issues. Good luck with it. It may be a thankless job, but love, love, love.

Well...Mr. Teabag drove up to see her today. She was weak(no big surprise there), but seemed to be in pretty good shape mentally. So I'm wondering if, as Linz pointed out, a bad bladder infection isn't what's causing all of this.
Pete, the picture frame for Cheryl's grandma was a stroke of genius! I have a couple of friends who have relatives with Alzheimer's and will pass that along.
Kazz, got the email....thanks. :)
