BTW, MP funded Ashley Spearing's expedition to photograph the rare **Himalayan** snow leopard (in early 2002 or late 2001?):

I don't think one is "awarded" a Fellowship (FRGS). One applies or is recommended & either qualifies or doesn't. At least, that's my interpretation of the rules:

Candidates for Fellowship must normally be proposed by one Fellow from personal knowledge and seconded by another. Those who are currently hold teaching or research post in departments of geography or related disciplines in institutions of higher education will automatically be proposed by Council. Overseas candidates do not need a seconder.

If you do not know anyone who can propose your application, please attach a brief CV or biography to your application form, outlining your reasons for joining and any relevant experience and we will endeavour to find someone who will propose and second the application on the basis of your details and who may wish to talk to you beforehand.
