We have another general election here in the UK early in June this year. I think Mrs May, our prime minister, is right in calling it before the due time because she and her party have been taking a lot of stick over various issues and she has a very important job to do in getting the UK through Brexit rather than fighting off the opposition with regard to this and other issues.

I hope that in the election the SNP lose some of their MPs as I'm sick fed up with them bleating on about independence for Scotland, an issue that was lost in a referendum vote in the country less than 3 years ago.

The EU (European Union) is wanting a £52Bn divorce settlement from the UK (Ref. yesterday's Daily Mail). It just shows that this crazy compensation culture has infiltrated to the highest levels. I think we should ask for our money back for all the years we have poured billions into the EU. Now, let's add this up ... I make that £346Bn.

I've just read that a Scottish colony in Panama made a start to building the Canal at the end of the 1600s but were ousted by the Spanish. The Scots came home and asked for help from England. This was crucial in the start of the formation of the United Kingdom. (I vaguely remember something about the Declaration of Arbroath in 1707 being part of this agreement).

Now, with Brexit looming, Ms Sturgeon is demanding a second independencs referendum for Scotland as a bargaining chip to get her party to vote for the deal that has been worked on by the Conservatives for the past 2 years or more!

It's great to see Brexit has been off the news over the past couple of days.
