What's your favorite series?

I can't really say for myself because I've only watched "80 Days" and half of "Pole to Pole", though I've read "Full Circle". I think my favorite series is...I really can't pick one. I really enjoyed "80 Days" because Michael had a goal which he could've failed. But he didn't. "Pole to Pole" I like a bit more than "80 Days" because he wasn't in such a rush and could visit the countries he was in. I guess my favorite would have to be "Full Circle". He visited alot of countries with different cultures all along the pacific rim, and I didn't really know alot about Australia and South America. So what's your favorite Series? "80 Days", "Pole to Pole", "Full Circle" or "Sahara"? |

80 Days is The Daddy...! Why? Well, for me, it's the added attraction of Micheal having a strict time limit. Tension builds as time goes by - for much of the journey, he is behind schedule. The other adventures are all great, but with no deadline to be met, that tension is never there... |

I was too young to appreciate Around The World In 80 Days or Pole to Pole when they were actually shown on television (I think I was about 7-9 years old at the time!), so Full Circle (which was shown when I was 16) was my first taste of Michael's adventures. Of course, because of this, I hold it a little higher and with greater fondness than the others, although I love them too.
I also think that the places he visited during Full Circle were the most amazingly exotic and interesting places, some of which I would be completely unaware of had it not been for that programme.
I adored Sahara though. I was completely and utterly gutted when I missed the final episode, but I'm going to buy it on DVD soon. And I have a signed copy of the book, so I really can't complain! |

Sorry nottlob - I'll get around to replying to your question when I've *seen* them all. ;O)
Bare with me, folks...most of Michael's stuff outside of Python is like a new world to me that I've just begun to explore. So I'm not quite as "in the know" as some of you. Thanks for encouraging me. :O)

Hi nottlob,
Full Circle was my favourite also. I think Michael's programmes are all consistently excellent, very well made, entertaining and informative; and he's always amazingly good, of course. But F_C was the first series I saw, and the first time I really took an interest in Michael's work.
For me though, I tend to judge each series on the places he visits. Some of my favourite places are on the Pacific Rim - most of which I hope to see when I do the F_C route in reverse next year.
I've watched 80 Days numerous times, and this probably comes a very close second. And I also liked the Hemingway Adventure, which often doesn't seem to get as much praise as it deserves. But I think it helps if you like writers, writing or Hemingway! I think H_A ties third with Sahara. P2P comes in fourth.

Does anyone know if there's any chance for Sahara to be aired in the US?
After hearing the good reviews and catching a few glimpses of what it was like from the website, I'm really curious to see it. But of course...we Americans didn't get a nice BBC airing like you British folks. ;O)
