Anne (Spursfan), if you ever find yourself here again (at the Space Coast, or Orlando) please get in touch.

[email protected]

Geez, I haven't met any Mercury astronauts! I have met a few of the Shuttle astronauts who come to the Visitor Center and do Q&A's. You lucky, lucky bastard! - Cori

I'm fortunate enough to have been to many of the places I wanted to visit, and I want to go back to quite a few of them. However, my list contains the current "gaps" - which may change fairly frequently. In no particular order:

1) Katmandu.
2) La Paz. According to a friend of mine this makes Peru look drab.
3) Rio - and probably the rest of Brazil (well, if you are there, it would be a shame not to have a wander round).
4) Iceland. I tried a couple of summers ago but it was full.
5) Australia. I've travelled with lot of Aussies who've told me how great their country is. I trusted them to get me back to the hotel from some dodgy bars so I'll trust them on this as well.
6) New Zealand. Ditto, but with better rugby.
7) India - except the north-west which I've visited.
8) Easter Island.
9) Antarctica. I did Peru for my 40th, I've got this pencilled in for my 50th.
10) Austin, Texas, my musical spiritual home.

CanaveralG, the place you mentioned is Borobudur near Jogjakarta in central Java. I went there some years ago and ascended this amazing structure which rises upout of a sea of green with the volcanoes of central Java as a backdrop.
Actually one is supposed to ascend it in a particular order and at a particular rate in order to replicate the Buddhist path to enlightenment. As a typical clumsy westerner who then knew little I just bounced on up regardless, as I also did up Uluru, which now I would not out of respect for the sprituality of both sites.

There are so many places to visit!

1. India - I think tiger watching is my ultimate thing to do there. I really want to go!

2.Parts of Africa - where do I start...Victoria Falls, Table Mountain, watching the game....

3. Egypt...not so much the pyramids but Luxor (Valley of the Kings etc) take a trip down the Nile and visit the temples. It is one of the most amazing places I've been to.

4. Las Vegas...and on the way take a peek at Death Valley and the Grand Canyon. Such an extraordinary place. It has to be seen to be believed!

5. Borneo...the rainforest looks fantastic and the Orang Utangs.

6. Canada ... I've never been and I want to see the mountains for myself!

7. Siberia (purely for family reasons)

8. Peru...to explore the countryside and visit the ancient ruins.

9. Italy - the Lakes, Rome, Florence, Amalfi, Capri and Pompeii (not forgetting smelly Vesuvius!!).

10. I love Australia but have been to a lot of it now...Perth and Port Douglas are my favourite areas. The barrier reef is beautiful. I have stopped in Singapore and Thailand, Bangkok on trips over and found these places to be very interesting too.

Katie
If you did get back to Egypt one day please don't pass on the Pyramids just because they are so well known. They are one of the few sights in the world that has more than matched my expectations and 'awesome' is still too small a word to describe them. I got right to the centre of the Great Pyramid some years ago in the Kings Chamber and still found that one of the most shudderingly awe inspiring experiences of my life (after the birth of my daughter naturally!). It is not there is so much to see there it is just the sheer weight of the great pyramid all around you and the overwhelming sense of antiquity. Do try one day if ever your wish list becomes reality.

Oh yes, Pompeii and Herculaneum are places I would love to visit too.
