To everyone, i know how i feel about things. But i do have a concern that maybe the whole thing could get too political? we may end up offending some by our comments. We are palinites and are here to have fun and i for one hope it stays that way. It is a scary world we live in, and having a laugh is our therapy.

I agree that we can get bogged down in political crossfire.
But highlighting things in a humourous way, allows you to show your opinions, but also show that you're not some axe wielding homocidal maniac about to chop up aunt matilda's hat because you didn't like the colour.
OK not everyone has to agree with the opinions of TJ.
Personally, I feel that war for the sake of it is not a good enough reason for running off to some far flung corner in order to stamp your authority over another country.
Boys and their toys! It's all I have to say. If it was left to the girls to run the countries, we wouldn't have all this testosterone flying around!
We'd be trying to preserve the world and its wonderful myriad cultures for future generations to share and explore (like Michael), rather than trying to destroy it.
Put it like this. If there wasn't this wonderful diversity of people and cultures, then M's exploratory and revealing journeys around the globe would be pointless because we'd all be trying to look and act and essentially be the same as everyone else.

Hey!
I don't think the Terry Jones article or much of the comments here have been political per se - more messages of peace from across the world.
I think all of us "everyday folk" regardless of our nationality, colour, religion or political beliefs really want a war with anyone - regardless of their nationality, colour, religion or political beliefs! It's just the powers that be posturing and ranting to make themselves look better than the other guy.
Where better to spread the word of peace than on a multi-national site about travel like this one? Travel makes people understand the rest of the world, and connects us all as one people - humans!
Cheers

No, I'm not an axe wielding homocidal maniac about to chop up Aunt Matilda's hat...
However, I MAY be a homocidal maniac armed with a bunch of loganberries...
;O) (Ever notice how exceedingly useful Python quotes can be???)
Michelle, a "sniggle" is INDEED a cross between a snicker and a giggle. Very good. 8O)
Speaking of Terry's "Crusades" program, I was talking to my college friend the other day and we discovered be both had Early Civilizations 101 last semester. She had a different teacher, but she said, "I still think the funniest video I've ever had to watch for school was the video Python member Terry Jones did on the Crusades". LOL. So we got a good laugh and a discussion out of that.
:O)

Wow! Looks like I am in the minority on the subject. I do know people involved in the military.........high ranking people and I am totally convinced the US and UK are justified in going in. Iraq and terrorists will hit the US, UK or any other country without there being a war on. Iraq helped the terrorist network, trained the 9/11 highjackers. We were not at war when September 11th happened and 3000 people died........
Okay, I just wanted to get my two cents in. I compleatly respect all your views on the war.......everyone is entitled to their own opinion:) Please do not bash me for my view though...........Kyra |

you're right everyone should have their own opinion without getting attacked!
I don't agree though, I just think humans as a species should come up with better solutions than killing each other. But we've always been like that, but maybe some time in the distance future we will evolve and somehow be clever enough to solve things without using all that violence, well at least not a war anyway... |

Hopefully that "nice man" Mr. oh-so-wonderful ( only doing this to stop him coming to find me, declare me a threat to the British public, and then killing me) has finally got a blow.
Loads of MP s(not Michael Palins, sorry:) ) voted against the war- yeah! let us hope this gets through to him.
Option of choosing optimism/ pessimism on the out come here. Please cross out as appropriate
