Heya!

There ARE actually two Nigel's! Both cameramen. Nigel Walters filmed the second half (Hong Kong to London) of "Around the World in 80 Days". Nigel Meakin has filmed the rest of the series, including the first half (London to Hong Kong!) of 80 Days.

All those amazing distance shots (trains rattling by, helicopter shots, leaving boats etc) are all filmed around their schedules, and sometimes there are very obliging folks who re-do the same thing over and over (like say goodbye to Michael!) so that they can get a decent camera shot!

Makes you appreciate how hard they all work!

Thanks for explaining sleepydumpling! You know how Basil's daughter was born I think, the same day Michael left...Victoria Station? On 80 Days? How cute is that, lol.

I know - it's lovely - he's been able to map his travel series' ever since then by Sophie's life!

She was born almost to the minute of him setting out from Victoria Station.

It's amazing how much has happened in 14 and a bit years.

YES... and let us hope that the "TEAM" can stay together and keep this wonderful series of adventures as an ongoing look at the world in general..

Just for info, in the 80 Days book Basil's daughter is Sonia.

Thanks! I'd love to get to see that other African series he shot if I can find it somewhere.

Are you Quasi Jnr or another Peter Meakin? There's a bunch of Meakin's here in Australia involved in television too (I think it's a Peter Meakin that runs one of the News channels or something - I vaguely remember reading the name in the papers!)

Hiya Peter, agreed Nigel RULZ OK. Though the work you did together for Sahara was incredible. Especially in the 'less than equipment friendly' conditions!!
