| Sydney hit a top temp of 40C yesterday - now that's hot! I suppose 30C is hot depending on where you live - 30C in the desert would be a dry heat, in the tropics its sticky and would feel 5C warmer. |

How true, Ellerd. Yes, when it hits those temperatures on the coastline one suffers greatly.

If it got 30C here, it would be hot but not uncomfortable - any warmer would be, and 40C is just unbearable!
A 40C day is what we get about mid-January.
I recall a lot of my past birthdays (which are in February) having stifling days but warm nights, so it was always nice to sit out on the patio to look out at the stars. |

| The temperature here overnight was 27C - very sticky night, the peel-yourself-out-of-bed type. They had storms overnight in Brisbane - and some poor window washer endured the storm stranded on his platform-thingy outside the 27th floor of the Riparian Plaza, Brisbane's highest tower, buffeted by gusts of up to 60km/h! I bet he's thanking his stars this morning! |

Window cleaner rescued (AAP)

A window cleaner has been rescued from the side of Brisbane's tallest building after a severe storm left him perilously perched on the 27th storey.
Firefighters had to wait until the storm, bringing torrential rain and severe lightning, had passed before they were able to remove a panel of glass from the building and haul Peter Kellett inside.
Mr Kellett and a co-worker were cleaning windows outside the waterfront Riparian Plaza, in Brisbane's CBD, when gail-force winds forced them to abandon the task.
They managed to make their way from the 31st to the 27th storey before the severe winds made it too dangerous to continue.
Firefighters worked frantically trying to get the pair to safety before a fellow window cleaner abseiled his way down the side of the building and rescued Mr Kellett's co-worker.
Mr Kellett, however, had to sit through the storm that blanketed the city.
He told Channel Seven before the storm struck that he was getting "nervous" as claps of thunder provided a deafening backdrop.
"I'm definitely getting a bit nervous because of the storm and the wind's picking up," Mr Kellett said.

| No snow here but we've been down below freezing the last two nights. Haven't seen the koi in the pond for a few days now. I assume they are hibernating in their caves. This is my first year with a koi pond. I was told that when the average day/night temp drops below 55F to stop feeding them but I worry. Any experienced koi people out there who can help me get them through the winter? |
