OFF TOPIC TO HELEN (and anyone else interested):
Rick Wakeman also does all the keyborad and sound effects incl. woodwind sounds on David Bowie's "Space Oddity." Compare it to "Heart of the Sunrise" on Fragile, or all of Close to the Edge, and you can hear it - same actual keyboard equipment. Compare "Morning Has Broken" to "Catherine Howard" on RW's Six Wives of Henry VIII. I actually don't know which recording he worked on first...
"Six Wives" is in the top 10 of my desert island discs! Even if it didn't have a theme, even if it were just a collecton of instrumentals, I think it's gorgeous. |

and this is why Cori rules.
The one disc I absolutely MUST have is Yes' Going for the One-- just for the pipe organ on Awaken. Of course you must already know that it was recorded over a phone line.
Wakeman's organ is just the best.

You got me. I have not given enough thought to John Lodge as a bass player. I will do that. I can't imagine anyone comes before the Fish...
How 'bout........Chris Squire or Paul McCartney?
** And who are Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam's bass players of note? |
