I stand by what I said.

Paul's non-music-related intentions may be good and honourable, but the fact remains that he is a very wealthy rock star, who is protecting his money. The exposure he and his band receive from their good intentions has only helped make them richer--in Ireland or in The Netherlands. That does not sound like someone who is doing his darnedest to help Africans and it does not sound like the actions of someone deserving of a knighthood. Bono is riding a high in popularity these days--from his music, his charity work, or both--and ongoing media backing from Time Warner. Bono was named co-person of the year by Time magazine last year. Would it surprise you that Time Magazine is owned by Time Warner? Would it surprise you that Warner Brothers is owned by Time Warner? Would it surprise you that U2 has a long history of recording under Warner Brothers?

Happy Christmas.

Anne, maybe that can be the group New Years resolution. To help someone... We can help Geraldine vis a vis Turkmenistan.
Just one thought.

We could talk all day on the merits of who should receive 'honours'.Frankly no-one should, the whole system is an anachronistic piece of pish.(my English and Latin teachers would be delighted with me!)Anyway it is much more heartwarming to here about Mike's(tusconmike)involvement with kids from Khazakstan and Geraldine's work for Geldy and others in Turkmenistan. These are the kind of folk who should be lauded.Ordinary people doing things just because they care.I,for one, will try to learn from their example.

Well, I STILL say (and I started this thread) good on you, Bono/Paul!!

Well I say that Liam and Noel Gallagher should both get one for their outstanding contribution to humanity.
