The Chatter Box : Blathering On
Australian & British Serial Killer. by tucsonmike on 22 February 2007 5:17am
Don't worry guys, this one is old. I was watching Discover Times Channel and they did a forensic series.

The Australian was in New South Wales in the early 90's, a guy named Ivan Milat. The murders were of hikers in the Beningo (sp) Forest.

The English killers were the couple named West in Glouctershire. (There was a third, the American BTK killer in Wichita. We know a little because Elaine has a friend in Wichita, who had some of the investigating police in her writing class. We were only in Wichita on the drive out and had lunch w/Sharon. I do not recommend Wichita).

They had the police, forensic experts and psychologists specializing in criminal profiling.

See the post What Suspense Writers Discuss to understand the interest.

Mike, not long after Ivan Milat was exposed, eight dismembered corpses were discovered in vats of acid in a disused bank vault in Snowtown, South Australia. The crimes were perpetrated mainly by two men between 1992 and 1999. Two more bodies were discovered buried in a backyard in suburban Adelaide.

A couple of years ago, I read an account of the Snowtown murders in one of the daily newspapers. It was the first time reading a newspaper made me want to throw up. Really gruesome stuff. :-(

Poor old Snowtown has been trying to disassociate itself with the killings for years. I'm afraid it's going to take a little longer...

Mike he's been blamed for so many crimes of this nature even to this day, his name won't stay buried. he has no remorse whatsoever.

I saw a documentary a couple of years ago, his many brothers and sisters were interviewed and spoke about the effect it has had on their lives. One brother and his wife were ostracized form their community. Very sad.

That was some link Ellerd. Good grief.
Kaz, the forensic psychologist seemed to be saying that the police were looking for a macho type with no feelings. At one point, police thought there were two killers.

I guess the fascination is trying to get inside the heads of these folks.
