Johnny CAN get the birds. by johnnythemonkey on 3 June 2007 1:51am
Do you like my visitors ? My daughter took these a few hours ago. This family of swans have been wandering about our estate for about a week. There is a small stretch of water about 150 yds from my house but they seem to prefer dry land.

Lovely piccies. Pretty birds but can be aggressive. They have special royal status here - they all belong to the queen and it is illegal to kill or cook them. Although I have seen it on a menu. Maybe they are imported swans.

Thats true that they are protected by royal decree, and violation of this decree is possibly considered treason and punishable by death, however there are a few places that are granted permission to cook and serve them legally, such as high table at Trinity College in Cambridge University.

Wish you had told me that before I shot the buggers ! The little ones were quite tasty.

aww, they are adorable, but yes can be aggressive, did you know a swan can break a man's arm?! Be careful, John.
Re: Johnny CAN get the birds. by johnnythemonkey on 3 June 2007 2:35pm
Even when he has a shotgun in it ?
Anyway, that is a myth Claz, their wings are'nt strong enough to break your arm.

swans! gorgeous! Those little fuzzy babies are beyond precious!!!
and the wings are QUITE strong. Do not be fooled by feathers. I wouldn't doubt that they could break an arm. I had china geese growing up, and they were vicious and STRONG. They had these sharp bony points in their wings that were quite lethal. They drew blood on my dad a few times. Agressive suckers. What a great childhood pet, huh? :P
Re: Johnny CAN get the birds and the 80s by Claz on 3 June 2007 6:22pm
I suppose its normal for people to have shotguns up there;)
Y'know what scare me, geese. They always chase after me when I'm trying to feed the ducks.
Has anybody read the books by Sue Townsend about Adrian Mole? Have you heard of it John? they were bestsellers in the 80s, of course, you were around then werent you. Alas, I was born in the 90s, and I didnt experience the Margaret Thatcher era.
Yeah, anyway, there is an incident with a swan in that...

Incidently, can anyone give me any ideas for my birthday party next week? I'm 17 and I'm having an 80s themed party. Since I wasnt actually a part of the 80s, its quite wierd, but any ideas for costume like what fashions there were, and any ideas for games..so far, me and my sister have come up with "pin the mullet on the head" as opposed to pin the tail on the donkey, thanks
