Anne's Quotes by Spursfan on 29 August 2007 2:52pm

My husband says he is one day going to write a book of things I have mistakenly said.

We were in Caenarvon over the weekend and on Saturday we parked the van in the car park next to the castle. I had visited the castle in my teens.

Looking at it in awe I said 'This must be the best preserved castle in England'. Zak said 'No.' I said, 'Do you think Conway is better or Caerphilly or something? Because it is wonderful' etc etc, waxing lyrical about the castle. 'Think what you've said' says husband. I realised then!! We were in WALES!!

About 6 years ago we were by the pool of the Yak and Yeti Hotel in Kathmandu (later visited by MP for Himalaya) and I was writing up our travel journal. I asked Zak 'How do you spell Stukka?' which made him burst out laughing. When the guide had taken us round a 'Stupa' (a buddhist religious monument)I had thought he had said 'stukka' like the plane!

I just call them my blonde moments- even though I am now (dyed) cherryred!!!

;-)

Well matey it's not the exact shade name because my hairdresser mixes about 5 colours. (He's great, we've had him for nearly 20 years.)

Let's put it this way - you can't miss me!

Wasn't he a cartoon character in the 1960s? Who was his sidekick again? ;)

Re: Anne's Quotes by tucsonmike on 30 August 2007 3:28pm

Yogi Bear was the cartoon character based rather loosely on Yankees catcher Yogi Berra, who is famous for malaprops. I got the book autographed by him. Nice guy (even if he did play for the Yankees).

Oh, Booboo was Yogi Bear's sidekick. Yogi's standard line was "I'm smarter than the average bear!" Then there was a Park Ranger who was constantly sparring with him.

Where's that pic-a-nic basket, Mike? Lol.

Perhaps I should be called Mrs Malaprop (from The Rivals) Mike which is appropriate because Richard Brinsley Sheridan was MP for my home town, Stafford.

YOU think you've got problems Anne I STILl have trouble with Spoonerisms which can be dead embarrassing, though I can't think (mind mercifully blotted out) of any recent ones.
