The Chatter Box : Blathering On
Greek Festival by tucsonmike on 22 September 2007 8:55pm
Last night, we went to Tucson's Greek Festival @ St. Demetrious. Elaine bought herself a Turkish ring. I had stuffed grape leaves and Baklava. The food was good.
We have a Greek restaurant called Frominos. (Saguaro Toastmasters meets there on Monday night). The food there is more American and not as good.

Well in two weeks, the Slavic Festival.

I want to live in Tucson. That sounds great. I'd kill for some good food right now.
I live in London, and yet I always seem to miss the festivals like that.

You want to live in Tucson, Bunniegirl? Well first come visit and decide if you like it. The weather is also great now.

Sounds like great stuff Mike! We have a lot of Greek restaurants and fesitvals here, as Melbourne has a very large Greek population, I;m not sure of the status now but at one point we had the largest Greek population for one city in the world (apart from Athens).

Yes, familiar delights there, Mike. Like Kazzz, my part of London has more Greek Cypriots in it than currently live in Cyprus so there are a lot of excellent family-run restaurants about.
have you tried a Meze dinner, you & Elaine? You will know you've eaten a lot after that one, all right, but as you say, it's great food

I'm surprised that there was a Turkish ring available at a Greek festival as quite a few Greeks are still hurting over the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974. I suppose international relations must try to forget history and move on.

This is Tucson, Ken. Any sort of political stuff from "over there" would not have been welcome. People are there to have a good time and the majority of the festival visitors are not Greek.
