There was a couple who rode the breadth of Australia on horseback. I can't remember their names but perhaps that was a training ride!

I spent three weeks on horseback in Northern Mongolia near a place named Mungenmort in 2000. I was part of a team using satellite navigation to map the wildfire devasted region in order to place accurate firetraps. It was an experience of a lifetime especially as the horses are still part wild. Each horse I had either tried to run off to join its wild brothers and sisters, or would trip on a blade of grass. Anyway great fun though. Will be adding photos to my website www.alphasix.co.uk soon

I'd love to see those photos. Please let us know when you post them. (I know what you mean about Mongolian ponies; they're not big on finesse. Tough though.)

Amazing trip. That is not the way I would go to Kazakhstan, though. I am getting a little long in the tooth for that.
