Michael's retiring by Gizzy on 24 September 2007 2:38pm

According to the Daily Express Michael has completed his last journey. " There are still a lot of possibilities out there but I doubt I shall ever get out to them. I know I keep saying that's it and I have lied several times but this time I really mean it. That's it. " Hope this is not true, anyone else read this interview.

Is that in the same way that he said in his diaries at least four times that he'd finished with Python. Hmmm.

PS I hope not, unless he's knocking the travelling on the head to stay in the UK and go back to acting - I saw GBH over the weekend, and am amazed he hasn't done more "straight" acting.

Oh. I daresay, even if Michael stopped travelling for filming, it should not necessarily mean retiring...

Funny that just the other week when I dared to mention he might retire people pooh-poohed it!!!

But seriously I know the way our papers work in this country. "Michael MIGHT retire" isn't going to grab people's attention is it? But actually reading the article itself it is nothing more than their speculation really.

Michael has already hinted on Parkinson and This Morning that there will be further travels, it even hints at the possibilty in the very article itself. And of course just the other day Nigel Meakin posted on here just how enthusiastic the crew all are about more travels.

I'm no more worried about this article than the one in The Daily Mirror last year that said U2 were splitting up.

Bunniegirl, you bring up a good point. He said a bunch of times in the diaries that Python was over and it was far from it! So, I don't think we need to get really worried just yet.

Oh God, here's that unnerving thread topic again! I think I'll retire so that I can concentrate full time on making sure that Michael doesn't retire.

P.S. -- Let's all keep a watchful eye on this Web site's home page. The day the video "I'm not retiring yet" comes down is the day of doom...deal?!

Thanks very much for posting the link! Now that I have read the article, I feel relieved. Just a phrase dragged out of the context and exaggerated as usual.

I wish the Man much further inspiration. The public and fans are so selfish, but don't we want to say, "Hail our Hero, we need you"!

(Just remembered, off topic, Marc Almond did his first retirement statement back in 1983!:-)

Haha. "Not Dead Fred" becomes "Not-Retiring Michael". Sorry KS523, I've just had this image of Michael on the back of a plague truck shouting "I'm not retiring! I'm quite looking forward to the next one. I'm packing my bag. No really, I'm not retiring" just as Eric clobbers him with a pension book.

A new Grail character - Sir Not-retiring-just-yet

Note to Self: Must stop quoting Python and Spamalot...
