Oh boy, have I been remiss in my job. Sorry!
Despite the chamber of commerce day down here on the ground, the 45th Space Wing Weather recon is looking at serious weather up in the atmosphere. They are still saying 60% chanve of scrub. I gotta go get dressed quickly!
The "polling" among all depts. is a GO! |

Discovery is in space and it was a beauty of a launch. They are bringing another component of the ISS called "Harmony," an Italian-built module which will connect 2 lab station together. It will be an exceptionally long 15-day mission.

When I was in the first grade--back in the dark ages--the teachers used to files us solemnly to the cafeteria to watch the Gemini rockets take off. Space shuttles taking off and landing like airplanes were the stuff of science fiction--and Clutch Cargo.
Now it's real, and it's so cool! |

When Apollo 11 landed on the moon, I skived off school (I was in High School) the following day after watching it all night in my bedroom. I thought 'I'm not going to school and miss all this happening !' as I was very keen on the space prog.
Turns out that they had it on TVs in school anyway!
Still, I was comfortably watching it in bed!!
Somehow the space shuttle doesn't grab the imagination like Gemini, Apollo and the rest - it was one of the best moments of my life to be within inches (sorry cms!!) of John Glenn a few years ago.
(But thanks for the updates)

Today they did the vehicle inspection, and then NASA provided the press with a space view of the California fires. Yes they can be seen from space.
Always remember your Red Cross/Crescent and your firefighters. |
