Newcastle and Sunderland

My friend and I are making a presentation about Newcastle and Sunderland. I have never been in Britain so I do not know what kind of places these are. Our teacher (who is British, from Worcester) said that these are totally different kinds of cities (like my friend and I, apparently). If you could give me some info about these that would be great (e.g. internet sites). We need to tell about the cities and plan a holiday there (7 days, no limits for money I believe) and then we have to write about some topic but we still don't know what would be the topic. If we won't kill each other (we always fight about things, artistic differences...), we will probably write about politics. Thank you for everyone who can help! |

Football. That's a huge rivallry between the two cities. Literally, they hate eachother.
Film. The British Classic "Get Carter" was set in Newcastle. As a holidaymaker, you could do the film tour. Also, watch the film "Purely Belter" which will tell you everything you need to know about Newcastle and Sunderland.
Geordiegirl will probably be able to help more. She's from up that way. A "Geordie" is a person from Newcastle. |

oh. I wanted to write about what Sally said, but I happen to be a Newcastle United (that's a football team) fan, so I stopped myself;)
There is a blogger from Newcastle with the beautiful pix of the city in his blog, I'll post it here when at home, alright ? |

Thank you Bunniegirl! That film tour would be great (if my partner agrees). Purely Belter, never heard of that one, I have to see if I can find it (Finland have good libraries but...). And thanks Kisch, I'll look for to it. By the way, what is Sunderland's football team? |

Thanks kisch! Pictures are very beautiful! And I have to check that Python thing when I have more time. I should be doing essay but I'm obviously not.
Thank you too, Linda! I did googled something, I have to check that out later. Oh, Sally wrote that "A "Geordie" is a person from Newcastle." So where does this "Geordie" comes from? (I'm always excited when I learn new things about English language.) I will talk to my pair tomorrow about this thing, but I have a feeling that he won't buy my ideas. I'll just have to make him accept them. I'll look for to hear from you! |
