The Chatter Box : Blathering On
Pakistan by tucsonmike on 9 November 2007 5:46am
I was @ my writers dinner speaking with a couple we are friends with who lived in Afghanistan @ one time.

Hal was speaking about Pakistan. Tomorrow, Benazir Bhutto is having a rally. She has stated if they her people are attacked, she will no longer try to rein them in.

I thought of what Mr. P said in Himalaya about Pakistan. The military is now the only thing keeping a partial lid on the place. As unpleasant as that may be, the alternative is probably worse. A radical state with Taliban and Al Queda influence.

It's quite frightening really.

Sue, it most certainly is...

Trouble seems to be, Al Quaeda & Taliban are in there already & military can't control them.
Like everyone, I always wish the bringers-of-democracy well in Pakistan: I wonder how the lawyers will continue their protests.
As you say, frightening.
