The Chatter Box : Blathering On
Staffie Vid by Spursfan on 27 November 2007 2:48pm
I came across the link to this whilst hunting for Staffie pressies for my husband.

I'm sure I've seen it before, but I just had to share it with you.

I have watched it through tears as we have experienced against our Tosun the sort of prejudice mentioned in the film.

Most people he meets love him but there is always the odd ones who look at him with mistrust and even hate. An example:

A few weeks ago I was walking Tosun back along our lane when I spotted a woman with 2 dogs, not sure what breed, about as tall as Tosun, grey. They both started barking immediately (Tosun didn't). The woman stood in the drive to the village hall (almost opposite our house) and said you go past and I'll stay here. So of course by now Tosun is pulling to get to them, tail waggy, but not in an aggressive way, the other 2 are barking like mad and pulling. And what got me is the woman is looking at Tosun as if to say you vicious evil dog, when her dogs were trying to get at HIM and barking their heads off!!

Tosun is a precious gift - he is so gentle and loving; beautiful in looks and nature.

Just thought I would share that with you!!

I can't get into You Tube at work but will do so at home.

Some people still think Staffies are pit bull terriers.

Lots of Staffies come into the animal clinic I help out at occasionally and they are always so friendly.

We have pix of Tosun up in our apaprtment, plus 2 oil paintings of him (we have just had two different ones done for home - they are stunning!!) and whenever we have (Turkish) friends round they nearly always ask (the first time they see his pic) if he is a pit bull!

We have a friend coming over in a couple of weeks and he is sure that Tosun is going to bite him (though I think he is kidding).

I keep having to say that they are different in temperament and looks (the ears are different for a start).

I am sure that pits are loveable too if they have the right Mom and Dad who treat them properly, not some lout who keeps them just for showing off and 'proving' he's a big man or for fighting.

As I have said many times on this site "PUNISH THE DEED NOT THE BREED".

They are nice dogs. Again, how you are raised.

Pit bulls are nice dogs, too--I've known two who were gentle, playful, doggy dogs. It really is how they're raised.
