Hemingways Chair by thebookworm on 12 April 2003 5:20pm

Ive just finished reading Palins novel Hemingways Chair,And being a postman I felt that the main character was believable.Michael captured the struggles within the Royal Mail really well(especially cutting the breaks).Being used to reading Michaels travel adventures I was quite shocked to read his steamy interludes...David..

I was wondering how long it would take before you read the book (being a postman yourself). I was a little surprised by the 'steamy interludes' myself. It was a little difficult to transition from his style of writing in his travelogues to his fiction. Had to read it a second time before I really appreciated the book for what it is. There's a friend of mine that went along to one of the booksignings, and ended up buying the book. He wasn't a Palin fan, just went to his talk to 'hang out' till I was done. I'm very curious to see what HIS opinion is of the book. I shall soon find out.

It was a very good read I thought...Michael should turn his hand to another novel, in his spare time..if he ever gets any!
