The Chatter Box : Blathering On
Dalai Lama by tucsonmike on 15 December 2007 10:33am
Just finished his autobiography. Amazing man, and what makes him so much fun is his humor and humanity. He hurts like the rest of us and gets angry.

From another book about him, I did realize one thing. He and Desmond Tutu may not play in the same sandbox, period.

*Do you know why they don't play in the same sandbox?*

cause you can't get sandboxes that big?

Because apparently they become very silly holy men. And decorum deteriorates, though not necessarily a bad thing.

I haven't read the Dalai Lama's autobiography yet, but I've read other works by him. I swear, I love that man.

I have never known of another religious leader who laughs as much as he does. Oh, he takes things very seriously, but he apparently also knows "a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down."

Mike, have you read his story about the flowers and his realization of his own hubris? Wonderful! It not only endeared him to me, but his astute conclusion from the experience spoke volumes to me about not taking yourself too seriously and cultivating humility.
