Sorry, I don't get the US version of the travel channel. I'm north of the border still eagerly waiting.

But I did see that the DVD will be released in our stores next March.

Yes, that is definitely the consensus and MP, in his most recent post, admitted that they took on WAY too many countries to be able to come up with a focused series, given the parameters they had to work within.

I've only seen the first two episodes now. There is a germ of a great idea there but commercial considerations didn't let it flower.

Still, I'm enjoying what MP came up with. Just wish that there had been enough time and money there to let the idea to fully flower.

Have not had the opportunity to see New Europe yet as many of us here in the U.S. will be waiting until the discs are available for rental - and that may be awhile. Pole to Pole has just recently come available for rental and that leaves First Circle and New Europe to come - maybe a year or two until the max profits can be made from sales.
Many rural areas are not fixed for satellite or cable and it goes without saying that many are not prepared or willing to purchase the DVDs at the going BBC rate, which is usually quite high or quite dear, as it were.
Agreed that the slower paced programs with plenty of time to see the sights and talk to the native people are the best of the lot. Regardless, that he wasn't first choice for presenter when this all got started, MP (Michael Palin, Monty Python, Member of Parliament - any significance there?) was the best choice for his easygoing manner, friendliness and sense of humor.

I've lived in lots of rural places and never had a problem with getting a satellite connection as long as I had a clear view to the south. (One courageous Dish Network installer climbed 30 feet up in a tree to install the dish so I could get the signal.)

I saw the first episode last night here in British Columbia. I liked it, although this episode was more about people than scenery, place and travel as in other series.

I like the 4th episode the best. He and the blonde woman in...I can't remember the country now, but he was catwalking a little :-) Anyway, they hitted of well, I think. He seemd to like her. They laughed and thats tuff. I liked to watch that
