Robert Redford/Bill Bryson by geordiegirl on 9 February 2008 4:49pm
Has anyone else seen media reports? RR is to make a feature film of Bill Brysons' A Walk In The Woods'

Well, this book is a travelogue & where would the plot be? 'Writer & ex-alcoholic friend endeavour to walk some mountains, they don't quite make it, friend has made honourable attempt'.

Ah well perhaps I should just trust Robert Redford!

No, I haven't seen any media reports, Linda, but it should make an interesting film! A plot could always be made up!

It was "common knowledge" in the film industry that it was impossible to make film out of one of my other favorite books, "A River Runs Through It". A lot of people had tried to bring it off and failure was predicted yet again when Redford tried it but did manage to come up with a really good film from it. (... except for the casting of Craig Shaeffer; I just couldn't believe that anyone so Saxon was a part of that family of Celts.)

I think he just might bring this one off, too. Did it say when they expect to release it? (Now that the writers' strike may be over, he can get to work on it.)

It seems to be reported as only slightly more than a firm intention on the part of Redford. Geraldine, but I will keep looking in the newspapers.
