The Chatter Box : Blathering On
Sierra Vista by tucsonmike on 11 February 2008 4:19am
Is a town of 40,000 70 miles SE of Tucson. I had to get the day off yesterday to play chauffeur so Elaine could give a talk to the Sisters in Crime Chapter and sell books.
Sierra Vista only has two things of interest for a tourist.
1. A small spy museum.
2. The Buffalo Soldiers Museum.

Otherwise, it is Fort Huachuca which goes back to being a fort to fight Apaches. Now, it is a major intelligence base and lookout (The Mexican border is only 15 miles away behind some mountains).

There are some small high tech firms otherwise it is the base, retired military (like Elaine's friend who invited her) and some wealthy retirees in the hills.

The drive down if you do not take the Interstate is nice. You go through Sonoita, which is Arizona's Wine Country.

Who are, or were, the Buffalo Soldiers, Mike?

Bob Marley did a great song about them.
