The Chatter Box : Blathering On
Sam by Spursfan on 24 February 2008 1:04pm
Well it will be my New Zealander Great-niece's 13th birthday on Tuesday. Never met her, (nor her 2 bros or her cousin) but she has a special place in our hearts.

My nephew Mark and his girlfriend had 3 children close together - Rhys was 10 months when Samantha arrived, and she was 15 months when Zak came on the scene. When Sam was 2 or 3, Mark and Kerry split up, and Kerry began to see another boy called Mark (I shall call him Mark 2), who was not a nice chap at all. Kerry's parents had the two boys to live with them, and Kerry and Mark 2 had Sam.

My sister rang me up one day in great distress as Sam had been taken into hospital. Apparently this *^&^^$ Mark 2 had slapped her so hard she needed skin grafts on her bottom.

Every time she needed her dressings changed, the doctors had to take her into surgery, as she was in such agony if they did it without anaesthetic that she screamed.

Mark 2 was jailed for this, but imagine what Sam went through at such a young age (2 or 3 I think it was, it could've been younger).

She is, from all reports, a normal young girl but who knows what mental scars she has.

And Mark and Kerry got together again and are still together.

Happy ending, thank goodness, to a sad story

Yes, @ least there is somewhat of a happy ending. Makes you realize what a lottery ones growing up can be.

If Samantha has a loving and nurturing home life from now on, whatever scars she has should heal uneventfully. Little kids are remarkably resilient. I hope the best for her from now on!
