Movie Locations in your area by geordiegirl on 15 July 2008 6:00pm
Lots of people must have experienced this!

I haven't seen the film, but the church-on-my-corner (in north London) was used in a Harry Potter (No. 3 or 4?). Apparently spectators were nearly banned from the location as their own camera flashes (night filming) were so numerous they were affecting the actual shoot. (I wasn't there, but have been told this since)

That would have been interesting to see!

My local cinema has been used several times for films. Scenes were shot there for the film "The End of the Affair" with Ralph Fiennes and Julianne Moore. I was waiting for a bus opposite the cinema and saw them both (at least I presume it was them).

The cinema was also used for a scene in the TV programme "The Hustle".

Also East Finchley station is sometimes used as film locations.

Last week, something was being filmed at the cafe next to the river by Lambeth Bridge near my office and near my bus stop. I didn't ask what it was because I didn't want to disturb them. They were in the middle of filming a young actor and actress in a very heated conversation.

There are several I know in North Carolina. For one, Michael's Matisse documentary was filmed in part in the mountains less than an hour from where I live. "The Last of the Mohicans" was in the western part of the state too. Further east in Charlotte there was Will Ferrell's movie "Talladega Nights". I've been told that "Dirty Dancing" was filmed in NC as well.

I think I mentioned this before, but part of the latest Indiana Jones movie, "Crystal Skull" was filmed in New Haven, about 15 miles from my home town. I once had lunch at the restaurant where the brawl began. It was fun to watch the movie and recognize the streets and landmarks (mostly around the Yale campus). I didn't go down to watch because traffic was a nightmare.

And part of "Pink Panther 2" was filmed in Boston, not far from my first home town. It's supposed to be Paris, but it's really Beacon Hill. They wanted extras, and I would have gone just for the chance to breathe the same air as John Cleese, but they only wanted "beautiful" people, and I certainly didn't qualify. LOL

Wow!! Tons of movie locations, peripatetically!

Johnny Depp was filming a movie in the downtown area of this small town that's near me. I don't know what movie it was though cause I'm not really into Johnny Depp. I know my cousin got pictures of him though!

I forgot--there used to be a porn studio not 2 miles from my house! It was an elegant-looking colonial with Greek revival columns and a sweeping lawn. I always thought it was beautiful, but it was just a shell--inside was the porn studio, and the pretty shell was for exteriors. It got sold and turned into a real house, and that process was featured on some cable TV show--I forget which one.

Hey Palin_Lover,

Where are you located? The Johnny Depp movie was filming in Columbus and Oshkosh, Wisconsin...just wondering if you're near either. (I'm in Sheboygan, WI)

Wow Pats noone's gonna beat that you should become a member of the paparazzi!

Recently near us Nicolas Cage was filming his upcoming one, not sure what it's called though.

When Ray and I were in London he was working for a transportation business that supplied all the mobile homes for the stars, along with all the trucks that transported the sets, makeup vehicles, that sort of thing.
We saw some amazing things...we often went to Pinewood studios and saw the James Bond and Harry Potter sets and all the special effects stuff.
Amongst the films he worked on (and I got to go to the sets of) were:
Harry Potter 3
Children of Men ( I got kicked off the set because I acidentally got in a shot and was wearing purple haha!)
James Bond Casino Royale (Ray said Daniel Craig was a nice guy)
Stardust (Ray said Michelle Pfeiffer was a spoilt brat lol)
Bud on the moon
The Holiday (Cameron Diaz)
The Good Night (Danny Devito, totally hyperactive)
Namnesty London ( Bollywood flick)
Robin Hood
The Queen (Helen Mirren)

plus he was involved in the shootings of loads of commercials and music videos, he was on a Madonna one and she was mega rude to everyone!
Oh and also, Michael Caine used Ray's moblie phone coz his had no reception haha!!!
He has heaps of good stories. We also went to wrap parties, mainly in Kensington, with swans strutting about and ice sculptures and buckets of champagne :), the actors would be there but also other celebs like Boris Becker and David Beckham. Yummo ;)

LOL mrsthing! I hope they cleaned the rugs...

Alas, my hometown hasn't been used in any major film productions. I did watch one movie, an Australian production, filmed in a little seaside town I'm pretty familiar with. Nothing as exciting as you guys!
