Back from my holiday by suzulu on 3 August 2008 8:32pm
I came back from my holiday last night.

I went to Strasbourg by train (Eurostar to Paris, then TGV to Strasbourg, the journey took nearly 6 hours in all). On the Sunday morning I met up with my friend who lives in Strasbourg, I haven't seen her for a long time. She took me around old Strasbourg which is very beautiful with its picturesque buildings along the river. We ended the morning with a lovely lunch at the Museum of Modern Art.

Then it was time to meet my friend from Switzerland at the train station. So there was another walk around Strasbourg including this time the Cathedral (my other friend unfortunately could not join us). That night there was a terrific thunderstorm which affected the electricity in the hotel. We had to fumble around in the dark!

Next day after a boat trip on the river, we took the train to Switzerland where I stayed for the rest of the week at my friend's house.

My friend lives in North East Switzerland. We did lots of things, including going up a mountain by cable car and walking down, visiting the Napoleon Museum at Arenenberg Castle from where there is a beautiful view of Lake Konstanz (the Swiss side) which it overlooks. We also went to the town of Konstanz which is just over the border in Germany.

Friday was Swiss National Day which they celebrated with fireworks. The weather was hot until that day when it decided to rain. Unfortunately the rain seemed to bring out the gnats or mosquitos or whatever they are and I was badly bitten with a bad reaction to one bite! Pesky creatures!

Linda, if you want to know more about Strasbourg, let me know.

Welcome back. Next trip Frankenstein's Castle!;-) (That was just on Ghosthunters, although that is near Darmstadt in Germany).

Oh, your trip sounded lovely. I love that part of the world so much. I envy you going there. Sorry about the bug bites though! lol.

Thanks, Sue - your report was just lovely. You make Strasbourg/Switzerland sound really Fairytale, and clearly you had a great time.

I bet your head's still reeling with all the images!

-yes, I'd like to email you sometime, if you wouldn't mind that. How should we fix this up?
Re: Back from my holiday by suzulu on 4 August 2008 5:48pm
I think I shall rephrase that, kazzz, to "I had to stumble around in the dark"! LOL!

Linda, it's a pity the Chat Room is not working any more - could have arranged to meet you in there at a certain time with email address.

If we are online at the same time, could type email address and quickly delete after being read.

You can't be too careful with your email addy. There are untold numbers of strange men around who want to have anonymous contact with two old women.

From an old man. :)

p.s. Good to hear you had a good holiday Sue. I even ventured across the border while you were away.

Ha, ha, haaa!

Johnny, what makes you think we are OLD??!! Cheeky monkey! LOL

How did the border react!

Well they say 50 is the new 40 Sue ( I don't know what age you are ! ) but though I may only look about 42 ( fine chance) I sure feel 50 !

Btw, I went to the Lake District, it was great. As I said to Anne......it's far too beautiful for the English ! :)
Lol, I remembered that you are Welsh.
