The Chatter Box : Blathering On
End of the Line in B.C. by lightrail on 29 April 2003 9:25am
Bad news for train buffs. The Steam Train (Royal Hudson) that Michael flags down just north of Vancouver on "Full Circle" no longer operates. The train serve was cancelled by the owners - the BC Government - as it did not want to spend the money to refit the steam engine.

And the "Caribou Prospector" that Michael took from North Vancouver to Prince George on "Full Circle" has also been cancelled by the same government. BC Rail was losing money and received permission from the Government (BC Rails' owners)to discontinue passenger services. The Budd railcars have been sold to VIA Rail Canada.

So you can no longer follow in the footsteps of Michael and travel by train from Vancouver to Prince George. Thanks Michael and Basil for capturing the beauty of that train journey.

The good news - the line is for sale and some prospective buyers seem interested in reinstating passenger services.

Oh, bummer...
I hope the new owners reinstate the services. It was a lovely journey-- beautifully captured in Full Circle.
Thanks for sharing this tidbit of train news.
