The Chatter Box : Blathering On
For Spursfan by geordiegirl on 20 November 2008 2:33pm
We've just arranged to go to the Byzantium exhibition at the RA, Anne. You will probably have seen an awful lot of the stuff as much of it comes from Turkey, I believe.

Particularly one vessel - from Tarsus? - which until 1500 - long time - was thought to be the Holy Grail. Have you ever seen that? (I don't think the Holy Hand Grenade is there, shame)

No rush for reply, ducks, away for a few days.

We have been to Tarsus (SE Turkey) and drank from what is known as Paul's Well - allegedly in his garden. It was about 14 years ago that we visited and we basically just went to that site before driving on to Kayseri in central Turkey, so didn't go to any museums.

Oh....I've just been on the Exhibition site and it is the Antioch Chalice, not Tarsus - though it isn't THAT far away. Antioch was where we went in October (and I STILL have to write up my adventures!).

But no, I haven't seen it.

Antioch, eh? Lotta stuff happened there - St. Margaret, etc.Look at it this way, Anne - my chance to see in one place (cheating) what you have probably spent half a lifetime travelling Turkey to see, and appreciate in situ.

I'll think of you when there!

Hope you enjoy it, bonnie lass.

I'll give you the first report, Staffie! (? Is that what you're known as...? I didn't mean to imply you were all like the terriers...)

I do like to be called Bonnie Lass. Reminds me of when I was in Wallsend!

This was the nearest I could find to a football thread in the first few pages of Blathering On so I thought I'd record comment on the Liga de Quito v Manchester United game from Yokohama today.
I thought it was amazing that Man U won because the Quito goal keeper pulled off some magnificent saves and Man U had a man sent off after only 5 minutes of the second half.
Van der Saar, the Man U goalkeeper, pulled off a few excellent saves of his own and the Rooney goal that won the match was extremely well taken.
Congratulations to Manchester United on being the overall winners of the World Club Team competition.

My local football team, Stafford Rangers (which has a noble past - they won the Non-league Cup twice) have monetary problems at the moment. Yes the credit crunch has come to Marston Road. In fact they have had to let the Manager (Steve Bull, ex-Wolves legend) go, although he wants to stay.

On top of this, some MORONS broke into the club causing thousands of piunds of damage.

Obviously NOT fans.
