One of my friends' husbands is a now-retired chiropractor. His practice was in a part of town where there were a lot of educationally compromised people. One of his patients was pregnant, and told him that if she had a girl, she wanted to name her Placenta because she thought it sounded pretty. Friend's hubby had a long talk with pregnant patient. Not-Placenta will thank him someday.
I used to work for a family-run business that specialized in personalized jewelry--I came away convinced that there should be a division of child protective services for reporting names like that. |

Some definitely aren't helpful to children, but if your father is Frank Zappa, it's probably not too bad to be named: "Moon Unit"... Moon Unit Zappa... Dweezil Zappa... and Diva Zappa... I mean...
I was fortunate enough to see Mr. Zappa walking near me in Prague one day.
A brother & sister team won The Amazing Race Last Night - their last name is Spangler. Her full name is Starr Spangler & she was a cheerleader on a big college team, and she says she likes her name. |

I think Michelle is the weirdest possible name for a child. I just can't imagine *anyone* being called Michelle. Or Michel if they are male. And possibly French. |

This is funny - I think many of you will like it. It's written by someone who calls herself "tequilaanddonuts," and it's about her Mom:

My son is Sky. If I'd ever had a daughter she would have been Hope. Is that bad? |

Kathryn has a friend called Stormy Lee. the parents thought of it when they were drunk. What a lovely story for the grandkiddies.
I handle the enrolments for Ava's playgroup and if there wasn't a box to tick on the form identifying them as male or female I just wouln't have a clue with halfthe names. |
