The bird, not the place!!
Does anyone else think it's kinda overrated as a meat? |

I think people tend to buy birds that are far too large for their needs. The taste seems relentless to me. I prefer almost any other joint or poultry for Christmas lunch. If it happens to be a turkey meal, I eat more chipolatas wrapped in bacon. I do like stuffing though.

Depends. If you get a free-range, black one it's OK, but giver me goose for Christmas dinner any time. And pheasant for Boxing Day.
Like Linz, I adore the trimmings of a roast bird, though.
What're you having?
And, Kazzz, i saved this one for you! Last week, in Marks & Spencer Food Store, I found no crumpets (winter-warmer, seasonal stuff, I'd gone looking for them) - instead, Hot Cross Buns and - wait for it - creme eggs!!
Sending them to
Kazzzz,
CremeEggAustralia should do it shouldn't it? |

We get our turkey for Thanksgiving from a local poultry farm. Mr. Teabag and Orion both love picking at it. I love salad with slivers of turkey, walnuts, feta or goat cheese, and balsamic vinagrette.
I think, in the event it frickin' quits with the snow, we might be going to the Indian buffet for Christmas. |

We get ham for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The triptophan (sp) in turkey just trips me up!
I like the taste of duck, but it is greasy. Sometimes gotta take the bird shot out of it.;-) |

Hey? Turkey is good food. I like to get a fresh one as opposed to frozen, brine it, stuff herbed butter under the skin, pepper it and season it with sage and thyme then cook it slow. Uncover it to crisp it. Do this and all ya gotta do is thicken the drippings and you get a tasty gravy.
I like goose but haven't roasted one myself.

The tryptophan theory was proven false, from all accounts I read. You'd have to eat about 100 lbs for it to do anything to you. |

It's nice enough, but it's a bit dry so it works better with apple sauce. |
