What Did You Do for Christmas? by tucsonmike on 26 December 2008 1:16pm

We had one of Elaine's coworkers over. She brought over two movies. Scrooged and Love Actually, both good movies.

It is dreary in Tucson otherwise. Weather is terrible.

The U.S. weather WAS frightful on Christmas Eve and Day! Tuscon and I live in the 2 nicest places, but even we had dreary, gray weather. A lot of people spent their Christmas Eve and Day camped out on the floors of airports and bus stations! Too much...

Can it be assumed we all had some family member do or say something that fell between "fairly neurotic" and "apes**t"? Can we all find succor in the fact that we're not alone in that?!?!?

I guess what I'm trying to say is, "Is it over yet??" -- canaveralscrooge

I think I posted this in another thread. We went over to my husband's brother's house for a family get-together. Every year, we gather at one of the in-law's houses on Christmas Eve, have dinner, read the Nativity accounts from the Bible as the younger children set up a creche we all made a few years back, then let the kids open their gifts. The family all behaved themselves, as usual. Maybe it's a bit of an act, but they're all nice people, even if we don't all agree on everything. We just don't talk about thing things we disagree about. After that, my husband (also Mike) and I go to church for the late service and sing in the choir. I'll confess that church is really important to me, and it's the making of Christmas for me every year.

On Christmas Day, we get up late, open gifts, and usually have a turkey dinner, but not with all the fixin's, just with stuffing, mashed potatoes, and a green vegetable, since it's just the three of us.

Our weather wasn't frightful at all, Cori! Christmas Eve was warm (almost 50!), with light rain and a stiff breeze. Christmas Day was sunny and in the low 40s. We lost ALL our snow, though.

Had a lovely day and played Snap with a small pack of cards from one of our Christmas crackers. The game went on for a long time so to finish it my wife cut the 7 of clubs from my cards, my daughter cut the ace of spades from my wife's cards and I cut the ace of hearts from our daughter's cards so our daughter was declared the winner.

We had a lovely Christmas Day as well--- in the upper 40's here, bright blue sky, sunny and no wind. All went very very well with my family and also with Larry's side. Wish it didn't have to end so soon. Can't believe we have to wait all year again. It's my favorite time of year by far. We open our gifts on Christmas Eve at my Mom's house eat our big meal then too, and spend the next day with Larry's sister's family, kids and his mother for gift exchange and a little meal.

I'm still exhausted but happy. Haven't had much sleep due to eating too much, including choccie which is a stimulant.

No Mike it's in Autunn!!!

Oh same, I adore that movie, I cry buckets every time I see it.

The scene where the friend visits and holds up all the cards telling her he loves her was filmed in the next street from where we lived in London, also the same street Paula Yates lived in.

The Bill Nighty song is just GREAT, best xmas song ever!
