January sales?! by Ken Dunn on 3 January 2009 12:28pm
Have you been to the January sales and did you get any bargains?

I went looking for a diary and got a suitable one for £1.25. And I just had to buy a 2008 brand new copy of Miller's Collectibles Price Guide for £2 where the cover price is £18.99 and also a brand new copy of Everest for £2 where the cover price is $35US.

There are January sales?

I don't pay enough attention to the colorful circulars and TV ads to know what's on sale, but I need some clothes, and I know Eddie Bauer is having a sale--they're *always* having a sale! I'll be off soon.

It seems the sotresdown here ahve been ahving sales all year long, everyday. Of course, right now, they are having huge sales just to get the inventory low enough to save money shipping them out. They have to make room for the new season's merchandise. PLus its cheaper to sell rock bottom than to not sell at all. markup is outrrageous on just about everything. If you aren't fussy about what you buy, great bargains can be had. And great bargains can be found getting exactly what you want if you are lucky. My birthday is the end of this month so I have trouble finding things I want so soon after Christmas. People are already bugging me to give them suggestions. I'm trying, believe me, I'm trying.... lol.

I scored 2 boxes of Belgian chocolate and a box of chocolate ganache cookies for $4.25 at Target. Yes, they made it home intact. :)

I got an ace summer dress and a couple of summer tops, also got some Xmas presents for next year, stuff for my nieces. Mum and I also grabbed some tinned bikkies and nuts with the use by date ages away for a couple of dollars each, they will be good for bday pressies over the next few months. That's if we don't eat them ourselves!

I got a nice shirt and pair of sensible Oxfords ( shoes ) for knockdown prices !

I'm not rushing to buy. I can't walk well enough to get the new toys home let alone play with them! I do want to get some new furnishings, so when I can walk again I figure the prices will be the lowest. I hope they still make new stuff then...new bed, a couple of mirrors...

And we might have different cable TV soon and if my picture in picture doesn't work with whatever signal they wanna sell I might want a big, flat TV screen...if I can't play hard because of my leg I need quality TV. And a new cordless phone. I'm not very good at shopping and I don't look forward to it.

I think that I may be bargain hunter of the year so far. The shirt I bought is by Duca Visconti and has a so called retail price of £80...I paid £9 !
More importantly, I like it ( well I love shirts ) it's a nice shade of light blue ( and striped as most of my shirts are) and has just the type of collar I love. As you can see, I'm rather smug with myself....don't get me started on the shoes! I paid £60 for them but they'll last....alas I reckon as long as me, as it's only on the odd time that I wear 'dress' shoes.

Lots of stuff we needed, and stuff from poor closed-down Woolworths. I will really miss that store. It's been provifding me with cheap good basic kitchen equipment for years.
